Castle Eltz

Castle Eltz is one of the most important castles in Germany. Since 1157, it has been the residence of the Counts of Eltz. It took about 500 years to build.

As a result of which both medieval and Renaissance buildings arose. Around the square are eight very impressive residential towers. Inside, the way the noble lived through the ages can be admired. In the treasury are artifacts of gold and silver, ivory and porcelain as well as historical weapons.

Castle Eltz is always defined as the most beautiful German castlen, as a real fairytale castle. Strictly speaking, it is not a fortress, because there is no castle tower and main building. It is an assembly of five different homes castle on a steep rock above the Elz Valley.

Visits from April 1 to October 31 daily. Guided tours every 10 to 15 minutes, take about 45 minutes. Location: Münstermaifeld.
